Powerhouse is a tool where students can investigate their own electrical usage at home. The site has been developed by the Gulf of Maine Research Institute in cooperation with Central Maine Power. Students can analyze real-life data from their own home's to observe, experiment, test and make changes to their homes electrical use. Data is displayed in easy to use graphs and displays. We will use the instructor's data to investigate the data that is available to students through the Powerhouse website, and explore how it was used in the classroom with eighth graders during a Purple House expedition. Bring your CMP electrical bill and your log in information for the CMP website, and discover how you can begin at home exploring your own energy usage. Easy Presentation Tools-- Emily Dittmann, BRCTC
This session will cover Haiku Deck, a simple, beautiful presentation tool for use on iPad and MacBook and Tackk.com, a quick, single page website-building tool that is useful for organizing presentations on your laptop.  Come and learn how to use these two applications for fun, or have ideas and content ready for a presentation if you would like to make and take.   Edmodo + A Bit-- Mary Moran, WCS
Edmodo can be used as a sort of social media around literature or simply a venue to track scores on classwork.  It can connect your class to other classrooms, or simply your own students to each other.
I am no expert, but have found it to be a useful tool in my 5th grade classroom.  If you do not currently use Edmodo or don't use it as anything more than a chat space, bring one literature unit (small book club, whole class reads) with quizzes and assignments.  We will create classroom groups and units with quizzes and such.  There is a lot more to Edmodo than first glance, but as many of you know there are other apps that do loads of exciting things that we can also share.  If you do not have several iPads or computers that your students can use several days a week (or more), then you may not feel this is worthwhile for you.  My suggestion is grade 2 - 8, but really anyone that is interested and work with students that can read and write (even at a low level) would work away with a possibility.  Definitely bring a reading unit and class list so that you can use time to get yourself set up.  Feel free to contact me, Mary Moran, with any questions or ideas. Introduction to Gmail-- Dean Emmerson, Tech Department
This session will provide users with an overview of the major features and settings in Gmail. Learn how to create signatures, activate "away from school" messages, organize your email using filters and rules, create contacts and distribution groups, and generally make Gmail work more effectively.

At the same time, the amount of available data is exploding, providing a foundation for many insights yet to be discovered. But how do we get from data to knowledge? In the session, the role of data visualization in exploring, understanding and communicating the interdependent developments of our globalized world will be looked at from different angles using tools available through Apple MLTI.
